Twenty-Eight years ago, I had the unique privilege of spending my junior year of high school in the House of Representatives in Washington DC as a US House Page. Yesterday, one of the desks we sat behind when on the house floor was used as a barricade. The year I was a page, Clinton was elected. I remember being able to attend a special Presidential Gala performance by Fleetwood Mac. That year certainly foreshadowed my later career choices (my year in DC solidified my desire to stay far away from politics.) That aside, being a Page was a life changing experience which, still to this day, means more to me than I can possibly say. Watching the pictures come out of the Capitol building yesterday, I could only think, If this had happened 28 years ago, I would have been there, locked down in what was meant to be the safest building in the world. - Naomi Claire Wallace, 2021
